why I like creating wood projects and art

Probably the very first reason is because the workshops and creating wood projects and creating art and doing photography reminds me of my father and the work he used to do.   He had about five rooms of ‘workshops’ on the first floor — separate from the three room apartment.   And in the  rooms of the workshop were tons of tools, and some equipment.   There must have been at least four or five drills, and a couple of dreamless, and some other tools and saws; you name it and it was there.

And the second reason that I really enjoy these hobbies is because creating helps my brain work a little better.  It is just plain inspirational.

Photography is probably my best hobby, or my favorite one, next to reading and writing.   My Dad gave my first camera to me; it was the good-old Polaroid, pictures in less than a minute.  And that was like magic.     I didn’t have to have film processed and I didn’t have to pay to see the pictures either.    Over the years, I’ve moved on from the Poloroids and happy to say that I enjoy digital cameras and the cellular phone cameras — the best.

The Spotless Child …

An excerpt from, “How to Help the Children”  (subtitle, “Help Keep Them Alive” )

“It’s all about the perfect, the spotless child and the clean home.

Sometimes the government organizations overlook the “perfect” child, the child that is spotless, clean, the house is spotless, etc. (The workers are busy looking for the ‘filthy’ areas, and dirty kids because they think that only dirt is synonymous with abused children). In the cases of the spotless homes, many times, the homes and apartments are spotless because the children and teens are the ones that are doing all the cleaning. The workers visit and see, “such a nice home”, “such cute and perfect kids”, and boom; they totally missed the boat. And most times, in these cases, the children and teens are scared to death to speak out or to report what is happening to them. Recently there was a case in the news – the kid was ‘starved’ to death, yet the freezer or refrigerator was filled with food. The case of the 13 kids that were recently ‘found’ as the young girl escaped and ran to the police — in that case, (the Turpin children and adults) in all the public photos, the kids are dressed nice, perfectly. They were totally ‘missed’ as they were allegedly abused and allegedly tortured by their own m u ther and f u ther . Our city workers need to study that case and really learn from it, in order to help the thousands of other kids out there that have still not yet been ‘discovered’.

To the government workers out there, please take a second or even a third look at the homes and at the children if you are called into a perfect home.    Look, and make appointments to come back to the home and even make surprise appointments to visit those toddlers and teenagers.

It’s not always about dirt, and it’s not always about dirty kids.     In fact, sometimes dirty kids are the happiest kids (just saying).     All I’m saying is that kids are kids and need to be kids.  So as you arrive at someone’s home after you get the call about child abuse, you need to be looking for something other than a dirty kid or a dirty home.

You need to really be looking into the families of the spotless kids.     Sometimes it is the spotless kids that are the ones in the most danger of losing their lives.

And once you find those kids, your approach needs to be very different than your usual approach.  Some of these parents are not going to stop  abusing the kids just because they got reported.

Set up a friendly visitor schedule and see the kids at least three or four times each and every week.  In that way, you can bring food to the kids, even if they are snacks, and you can interact with the kids, talk with them, yes, become a friend to them .  They probably will never admit to  you what is happening to them, however, you can do the visits to help them survive, to live, and to thrive until they can really get help to get out of the place where they are being abused.

It’s just a guess here, but  I am thinking that the reason why some of these kids die is because the visits from the government workers are too far apart.   You can’t visit an abused child and then come back seven days later.  In seven days, that child can be killed by the abuser.    Visit at  least three or four or even five times a week!

Yes, that’s expensive, but hey, how much is a life worth ?

Next step, once you start visiting almost every day, the head abuser will try to move the children out of the city, you can still help the child.       You  know where they move and set up visits in the next city.

If a system like this was in place, the Turpin children could have been saved years ago, instead of enduring all those years of torture.

One of the red flags you have to help you is the number of times that the families move after they are flagged by the child workers.     If you have been called to a  home on the case of alleged child abuse, check the number of times that family has moved prior to your investigation.    If you see that the family is always moving, note that it’s possible as your investigation continues, that family most likely will move again.

You have clues and red flags all around you , but the gov workers are not picking these things up”.

This entry that I’ve written is short, and it doesn’t contain all the information necessary but it’s just a note, an entry, not the whole book.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, here’s some of my photographs…

National Day of Prayer

Who can be against religious freedom?  Our free nation is founded on that beginning.

Trump: ‘The Power of Prayer. It’s the Most Powerful Thing There Is’

Janita Kan

Speaking to about 100 religious leaders and Trump administration officials, President Donald Trump said prayer is the “most powerful thing there is” in which many Americans still believe.

“America will be a nation that believes forever, and we certainly believe, more than anyone, the power of prayer—it’s the most powerful thing there is,” Trump said at a White House dinner on May 1, the eve of the National Day of Prayer.

In attendance at the dinner were representatives from various faiths—Christians, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, and Hindus. There, Trump stressed the importance of protecting religious freedoms.

“Tonight we break bread together united by our love of God, and we renew our resolve to protect the sacred freedom of religion—all of us,” he said, according to Life Site News.

In a proclamation on National Day of Prayer 2019, the president stated that “The United States’ steadfast commitment to upholding religious freedom has ensured that people of different faiths can pray together and live in peace as fellow American citizens. We have no tolerance for those who disrupt this peace, and we condemn all hate and violence, particularly in our places of worship.”

Trump also condemned the recent anti-religious hate crimes that occurred in America and abroad, including the recent shooting at Chabad of Poway synagogue in San Diego.

“All of us in this room send our love and prayers to the Jewish Americans wounded at the Chabad of Poway shooting in California. And our hearts break for the life of Laurie Gilbert-Kaye who was so wickedly taken from us,” Trump said at the dinner, according to CBN.

“We mourn for the Christians murdered in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday and grieve for the Muslims murdered at their mosques in New Zealand,” he added. “Here at home, we also remember the three historically black churches burned recently in Louisiana and the horrific shooting last year at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.”

Trump then reiterated the importance of prayer in his speech at the National Day of Prayer Service on May 2.

He began his speech by sending a prayer to the people of Venezuela. The socialist South American country has spiraled into humanitarian, economic, and political chaos after illegitimate dictator Nicolás Maduro refused to step down despite mounting international pressure.

In mid-January, Venezuela’s duly elected National Assembly declared Maduro’s presidency illegitimate due to a fraudulent election, and swore in Juan Guaidó as interim president. But Maduro has refused to give up control.

“I’d like to begin by sending our prayers to the people of Venezuela in their righteous struggle for freedom. The brutal repression of the Venezuelan people must end and it must end soon. People are starving. They have no food. They have no water. And this was once one of the wealthiest countries in the world. So we wish them well.  We’ll be there to help, and we are there to help,” Trump said.

Later in his speech, Trump said he will be doing everything he can to “make it better than ever before” for the American people—and especially for people of faith.

“On this Day of Prayer, we once again place our hopes in the hands of our Creator. And we give thanks for those wondrous lands of liberty. And this is truly the greatest of all lands of liberty—our country. Our country is special. It will always be special. It will be greater than ever before,” he said.

On this day of prayer, we once again place our hopes in the hands of our Creator. We give thanks for this wondrous land of liberty, & we pray that THIS nation – OUR home – these United States – will forever be strengthened by the Goodness and the Grace & the eternal GLORY OF GOD! pic.twitter.com/RtSI3j1GWH

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 2, 2019

“We’re doing things that will make it better than ever before, and especially for churches and synagogues and mosques and everyone else—people of faith. We pray that this nation—our home, these United States—will forever be strengthened by the goodness and the grace and the eternal glory of God,” he added.

Protecting Conscience Rights for Health Care Groups and Individuals

During his May 2 speech, Trump also announced his new rule that would protect health care groups and individuals from mandatory provision or participation in services they object to for religious or moral reasons.

“And just today, we finalized new protections of conscience rights for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, teachers, students, and faith-based charities. They’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” he said. “Together, we are building a culture that cherishes the dignity and worth of human life.  Every child, born and unborn, is a sacred gift from God.”

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the rule promises to “promote and protect the fundamental and unalienable rights of conscience and religious liberty.” It specifically protects providers, individuals, and other health care entities “from having to provide, participate in, pay for, provide coverage of, or refer for, services such as abortion, sterilization, or assisted suicide,” according to the statement.

Ah, remember film?

Truth is I’ll never go back to film,  (yes, I can say never).  Except for Poloroid, of course, I tend to leave film undeveloped for the longest time.   I still have about ten rolls, at least, of film that has not yet been developed, processed.    And most times, in the past, I processed my film and printed it in a bathroom, doing mostly black and white photography.

I processed only one or 2 rolls of color film and found that’s too complicated for me so I stopped that.

And I love digital photographs!

Have you used film or not?  Or do you still use it for photography?

All my pictures are taken with  almost anything, cellular cameras to SLRs to DSLRs to video cameras , over the decades.     All copyrighted.    And I guess I should say , I take them, so far, for myself and for my kids and grandkids.  Though I’ve had many on exhibition in the past, at the moment I’m taking the pictures, I take them the way that I like them, that includes the ‘blur of life’ , and other strange variations, including odd colors, and collage montages and everything in between there.

If you’ve been reading here a while or if you are new at this blog, can you tell me which photograph or work of art is your most favorite?  Thanks for your input.

In my life, I’ve seen that one of the most important things that one can do is to show kindness towards an individual.         Kindness is worth a million dollars.    No joke, it’s worth a million dollars.   Share kindness.

Peace.

Remember those old washing machines?   I don’t have one and I’d never seen one in real life until I went into this coffee shop one day.     They used the washing machine as a cooler.   Too cool!    Yes, it’s still around in the good, old, USA , in that coffee shop.

Peace.

I took this photograph in an old thrift store in Pennsylvania, last year.    The sign and the message just grabbed my eye and I had to take the picture.

Yes, grab some fun.     Make a cool, fresh lemonade for yourself , with real sugar.  Yes, I said real sugar.    Our society is too down against sugar.   (disclaimer here, of course if your doc says no sugar, I guess you have to listen to your doc.  But if you are medically cleared, of course, by all means, use real sugar).

God can do ALL Things ….

This is just an old beat-up plastic-covered card that I carry with me, most times.    I need to make some copies of it because I’d like to have one in each bag of mine.   A card in each backpack, yep, that’ll do it.

This is one of my most favorite messages, a message of courage, and of encouragement.  Talk about positive thinking, this is “it”.

Check Out Their Location …

Long while back, I had the gutters “cleaned” and had a couple of clips put up there.  The first rain after it, this is the result.  Apparently, the company didn’t solve any problems but made more problems.

The person came recommended .  So I never checked them out.    After the fact, I did go to the company’s location t o  find out that there isn’t a business there, but a house that looked as if it needed lots of work.      Oh, the company has a NICE truck with nice lettering and it appears to be all legitimate.    The truck is very impressive.    I have learned a lesson,  “NEVER just a company by its’ truck“.

No.  I never reported it nor complained about the shoddy work.    But I never recommend that company.   And by word of mouth, if anyone asks about the company, again, I never recommend it.

Lessons learned:

Yes, it’s okay to ask for recommendations.

But even so, you need to GO to the company’s location and make sure that there is an actual building there.   If there’s no building and no business real location there, then you have to ask yourself,   can you get good work done and if not, can you properly complain and get remedies?

That’s all I’m saying.

Help For You …

Seriously, someone created this fabulous book.    And every single person should read it.    This book is a great encourager.    I read it long time ago.    And there’s a before and after of the book for me as likely you too, can see a before and after for yourself also, in your life.      First , an explanation, then some of my art,  and at the end of this entry, there is the name and the author of a fabulous book .    Highly recommended book called, ” DO YOU ”  by Ben Cohen.

My “before”

Even though I had my photographs and videos on a site or 2,  basically I continued to hide out from the rest of the world in an effort to hide from one single person .   I hid out in the sidelines and did not show any of my art or other creative efforts hardly anywhere  .  (Decades ago, I did many exhibitions in many places but then I did go into hiding and decided not to do any art exhibits anywhere).

My  “after”

After reading this book, I realized that I could do better than that.    And so I came and put my art, photography, collage, writing and other artistic creative efforts online in a large number of sites.

The book, for me, allowed me to realize that I do not and did not have to hide my art anymore but that I actually could concentrate on it and continue to be creative and have that as one of my most important focuses.     (Oh, yea, nobody has to like my art.   The art is for me.  A  lot of the art tells my story and some of it is created to encourage others to be positive, and to spread and share kindness and share art around the world.

Healing, Slowly

For me, some of the best medicine for healing myself is an art, being creative, doing something that I see as beautiful or interesting or just something fun.    I take photographs, and I take videos. Sometimes I write; sometimes  I blog.   Sometimes I just do reading and reading and more reading.     Lots of times I read the Bible and this gives great strength to me, besides the healing, the reading helps me do more of things that I need to do or want to do .    It’d kind of like a spiritual vitamin.

The pictures in this entry are of some of the pictures I’ve taken over decades and pictures of some videos that I’ve posted on another site.      Looking under the name of artfromperry at the videos site might bring up the videos.   Other sites I have photos on are you pic  . com and also  Godtube. com    and youtube. com

And, of course, some of my photos are here.

(SILLY NOTE:   In this entry, I’m not bragging.   I typed this for myself, to remind me of all the photos that I’ve taken, the videos and other creative things that I added somewhere .   It’s good to remember these things.   So, this is my typed record of it here and should I ever forget the sites of photography, I can come here, and look them up.     Yes, this is dated today, so for today, that’s the information).

Oh,  I post here also to connect with other artists, photographers and people in general , from all walks of life.   Good conversation is good conversation.    Anyone can reach me by writing to artfromperry   email    that I have at  g  m a  i  l   .com    (I put spaces in there so the site doesn’t put a link in there.

If you put the  word        trees in the subject line, I can read and answer your emails.  Thanks and see you later .

Yes, the facts, only the facts, folks.

I really miss trying to play the ukulele.    (Yes, I said, “trying” , because I haven’t learned how to play a song, yet.  That is one of my goals, to eventually learn how to play this cute little instrument.  Yes, I did begin a collage on the instrument.      It’s a beginning and it ill be covered in words, eventually.   And another eventually,  I am going to learn how to play this thing.

Time .

It takes time.

I kuit playing it because there as a stalker around and I didn’t like being followed, and being yelled at by the odd person.

One day I am going to be able to learn how to play this one.

I really like ukuleles and I like learning how to play a musical instrument, even if it is a little one.

Some Cherry Blossom Trees without the Tree … Peaceful week …

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

For this picture I am presenting the Cherry Blossom tree in a ‘different’ way.   In this picture, if you look close, you will see all parts of the tree.    In the upper-right hand corner you see a glimpse of the trunk of the tree, right in the corner there.   In the glass and the hood of the car,  you can find the branches and the shape of the tree.  And last but never least, you find the actual petals of the tree all over the top of the car and all over the ground — near the trunk of the tree.

My favorite picture, of course, is the blurred version of this one.      I used an editing program  — solely to blur out the number on the inspection and the registration ticket that is one the window of the automobile.    I cropped the picture to leave out the trash cans and some old, winter garden flower pots.

(All winter the garden is pretty un-organized due to icy cold weather).

How strong is your faith?

when I was a little kid, seven, eight, I had a faith in God so strong… (still today I have that same faith), but this song really puts it in words, words that I didn’t have as a child. I heard this song for the first time this year, and it is so just right. The kind of faith that everyone needs, in life, is that kind of faith that says, (like the words of the song, “even if you don’t , my hope is you alone” ). If you keep that kind of faith through everything, the promise is that God is there for you, and will always be there for you, through everything… but key is faith must be unconditional, “even if you don’t …. my hope is You alone”

Keep the faith that is strong enough to sincerely say, “even if you don’t …my hope is You alone ”  ….

Peace.

Over the Bridge and more

I took those pictures as I walked over the VNB  (Verrazano) , during the parade .  Pictured is the  25th Anniversary of the Bridge. .. The bridge is closed to traffic on that day and there are parades of people and the seven original cars that first crossed the bridge.  Nice parade, great day.
Silly, at the time, the toll for the bridge was about FIVE dollars and people picketed that day because they said the toll is too high (at five dollars).

Now the toll is over 18 dollars.

If You Must ………..

Smiles,  if you must have an addiction of some sorts, go in the direction of books and of libraries and of book stores .  You can’t go wrong  with this kind of stuff.  And the only side effects of this addiction are knowledge, wisdom, education, socialization, fun, science, art, and all wonderful things in the world.

And most importantly, remember to opt on the side of good creative books, books that inform, books that lure you into the better world, the world of doing good and being in the right creative places of your life.

This picture, above, I created to reflect a personal opinion of mine.   I read a book called, “Mommie Dearest” that Christina wrote.     After reading the book, I saw a lot of negative comments online about the author of the book, about the book and the commenters seemed to be raving about the ‘mother’ that is mentioned in the book.  The commenters said that the book is like fiction that the author made it all up .

After seeing the movie and after reading the book,  I have come to the conclusion that I certainly do believe the author of the book,  Christina.    She tells it like it is.  And before she wrote the book, she knew that the public would be against her and she knew that people would say the author lied.    But she wrote the book , anyway.

Something holding you back from expressing your whole truth?  Remember, there are some people thatwill believe you and others don’t believe you.   But the bottom line is that, as long as you tell the truth, there will still be people who will listen and people that will believe you.

Besides, God knows the truth, and that’s all that’s important.

ARTFROMPERRY photographs 2019-03-27 at 5.32.13 AM

Sometimes I write about the topic of bullies and sometimes I don’t.    This is an old blog page, or picture page .  I took this shadow selfie one day long ago.  I took it in the carriage house in a different city.    Throughout my travels as a hobbyist-photojournalist, I took many selfies that didn’t quite include my self in the picture but rather included a shadow or some other visual moment.   I wanted to be included in the picture, yet because  of the bully, I didn’t really want to be in pictures.   So, a compromise, put my shadow in or some other ‘bit’ of me, whether it is my shoes or my hat etc.   I happen to like this selfie , the shadow-selfie in the carriage house ,   It is only years after I took the original photograph that I added those words in an attempt to reach out to those that are bullied.   A message, seriously, if you are being bullied, tell, just tell someone .   And keep on telling until someone really hears you, really listens and until you can get the bully to stop being such an *ss.

My  feature photograph there,  LIVE LIFE JOYFULLY EVERY MOMENT ..  is a copy photo selfie.    This original, taken decades ago, and decades later, blurred, and words added.  An important message to everyone.     Life life joyfully every moment ..

Every morning as you wake up, smile at your morning….and make that conscious decision to live your day -joyfully, no matter what!

The Book

In my life, I write a lot about books, and recommending books, and this is the time to tell you of my most favorite and most cherished book, the best, the one and only true winner –

The Holy Bible,  preferably the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

This one single Book has been the prize-winner for me.    The one single book that has brought more peace to me, more knowledge, more ideas and more ways to handle all of life’s problems , than any other book that I have ever read.

This is my one  staple, kind of the real bread of life.   You can take away every single one of my possessions but this is the one thing that you can not take away from me, ever.  Though I do not have it memorized, I remember enough of it to hold it in my heart, to keep it near, forever.

Seeking peace?    Read peace, be peace, and get your words from the King of Peace, it’s all in there, in the Holy Bible.

ABOUT THE PICTURE:

I took this picture a number of years ago.     I took it in Tarrytown, NY,  USA.    I peered into the window of an old Church.   And this is my view, from outside the church.

ABOUT the picture , below

ARTFROMPERRY photographs 2019-03-27 at 5.40.28 AM

I took this picture during one of the  MARCH FOR JESUS marches in our city, decades ago.       The march is pretty remarkable.    One year they actually closed down Fifth or Sixth Avenue, in Manhattan, NY, for the March for Jesus.

He knows what he is talking about

First,  there are 3 recommended books for people that are dealing with  bullies, not necessarily in order but theses are the 3 books:

  • DO YOU  by someone named Cohen (not sure of first name)
  • FREE US FROM BULLYING   by Paul T. Coughlin
  • THE GIFT OF FEAR  by Gavin DeBecker

And there’s one all parents and guardians should read on the topic of protecting children, grandchildren, teens and young adults from unsafe people, and from serial bullies .

PROTECTING THE GIFT   by  Gavin DeBecker

If you know someone that is being bullied or if you know professionals, workers or teachers, educational personnel or people working within the education system, kindly recommend all these books to them.    The more people that are properly educated on how to handle and to deal properly, safely and professionally with bullies – the safer and more peaceful our world is going to be.    Remember that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.    Helping to educate our current students, no matter the age they are — can only help bring peace to our world in the future, and in the present moments of our lives.         Get the book called ,  FREE US FROM BULLYING

with Summer Approaching…

It is going to be quite some time before the tomatoes become visible on the plants.  (This picture is from last year or the year before that.     In the photo, there is a combination of home tomatoes, a store tomato and a friend’s tomato.

I remember the day that I got to taste my very first “beefsteak” tomato.   Too superb, the one from the ground, not from the supermarket.    A friend had brought a huge beefsteak over to me.    (I had already tasted cherry tomatoes and plum tomatoes but never had a real beefsteak tomato, ever, until that day).    Superb!!

And without adding anything to it at all, no salt, no seasonings, no nothing, this tomato (not pictured) — the best piece of fruit that I’ve had in my lifetime – with the exception of the apples in that homemade apple pie that my grandmother used to bake.

Instructions:  (Tomatoes)

  • Put fishheads, veggies etc , into the ground, in a hole.
  • Place seeds into the ground  ( You can use the seeds from the tomato that you just ate, and even use the seeds from those tomatoes that you just got from Trader Joes.
  • Care for the plant as it grows.
  • Use water from a lead-free hose.
  • In colder climates or before spring or summer, use hot water to give your plants some hopeful growing.

Patience, you will have tomatoes, this season.

Kutztown is the best …

The Kutztown  festival is fabulous as country fairs go.   They have the coolest music and the most interesting food.    And best yet is that the dates are usually the same almost every year.

The fest is held during the fourth of July week, in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.   Yes it is a genuine Pennsylvania Dutch festival.

Check it out online and get the dates.  It is super-cool!

Don’t You Just Love Flowers?

Long while back, a family member gave these beautiful flowers to me.   And I wanted to preserve them permanently.   So, I took pictures, lots of pictures.  This is one of the pictures that I took that day.

I made a few posters for myself.

It’s pouring out right now, and my first reaction is  ugh….it’s raining outside!

My second, better reaction is  smiles,   ahhh, the flowers, plants and trees are getting such beautiful drinks of water today.   And, of course, the people are also, getting their thirst quenched.

As you go throughout your day today, remember that the water of all waters is that One, the God of Peace, Jesus Christ.

Just saying.

Smiles.

Take a look inside my world (or just part of my world– leaving my family pictures out of this entry).

Here’s your view, for today  (pictures taken decades and also up to the present year).

Thank You for Remembering Us…

Yesterday, someone brought us a great Easter surprise.     That just so made  me smile big time.

Thank you so, very very much!

It seems at the most appropriate times, these surprises happen, yet, not ‘just happen’.   It seemed to be well-thought out…and wrapped up with great peace and heart…and that is just so absolutely perfect.

Chocolate, oranges, apples, little marshmallow chickadees, along with the coolest cookies selection ..etc… and ….. the most perfect Easter plant .. 🙂

I’m still smiling… and also really happy that  my friend is celebrating Easter in the most magnificent way.

It’s great to be remembered and thought of in such a beautiful way.   And to me it is the thought more than the gift…but it’s both that brought a smile to me, a lasting smile, an Easter smile..

Hm….the cookies are fabulous!     And actually, everything is fabulous!       🙂

Peace.

There are many Christians around us… and it is nice to connect…  and stay connected.  It’s been such a long, dreary winter.

Summer is almost here and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful flowers  that are about to cover our garden.   The winter garden is soon changing to be our spring-summer garden…in a short time..   Ahh, that is going to be super-beautiful.

Just kidding…   smiles ..

So I like to take pictures of nature and pictures of words .  Message through photographs — that’s kind of cool.     Nature is beautiful beyond description, birds, scenes, the moon, people  …    without nature, this planet would be so boring.

Our earth is magnificent and practically everything on it is triple-magnificent.        🙂

Have You Seen These?

Some of the older blog posts and some of the pictures that I’ve taken over the years are posted in this site here.

Have you seen any of these.    And I’m wondering — which is your favorite picture from the bunch?

ABOUT THE word      , “NO”.

One of the most important posts that I make here and everywhere else is the post that explains, talks about and promotes the word, “No”.          The first step in fighting a bully is to perfect your “no”.        while most of us ere trained to be polite and to not offend, the truth is that as you go older and as you learn to distinguish between regular people and those people that seek to totally control you or harm you, one of the best tools is the use and the understanding and the perfection of the word, “No”.

  1. There is no need to explain your “no”, to excuse your “no” or to validate your “no” .
  2. Once you have figured out that the person doesn’t acknowledge, understand or accept the word, “NO”, then that is the time to simply use it without explanation or validation.    Just say, “NO”.
  3. Stick to your no.   Do not feel sorry for the person; do not feel the need to be polite and never ever explain your “no”.
  4. If you need more words of if the person insists on more “explanation” of your “no”, simply say this —   ” NO”.      And this, “NO”.
  5. As you are pressed and pushed for a different answer, repeat, “NO”.
  6. walk  away; don’t look back.
  7. Do not regret your “no”.   Don’t feel guilty and don’t collect $200.  (LOL, that’s from the Monopoly game).

Just say, “No”, and repeat and then get out of there fast.

Soon, It’s Flower and Plant Time!

So, the garden,  that looks as if a truck hit it, should be looking better real soon.    Soon the plants are coming back up and soon the Hydrangeas wake up.

Some past photographs of flowers and plants in the summer garden.

So, is it Tomato Time?

It’s almost time, right ?  Some plant tomatos in May, some in April.  But if you have planted them already, they do survive if you keep them indoors.

I’ve planted some seeds into small containers, indoors, and I planted them almost a month ago. (Too soon, right? ) .   They are still alive and the cute little plants are the size of the pinky, a little smaller.

I took this picture last year or year before of some garden tomatoes.    Some of them I grew and some of them are my friend’s tomatoes.

You can do it.   Get some dirt.  Put in some seeds (from the dollar store) or from a tomato that you’ve already eaten.    And then care for it, keep it moist, and give it sun, and there you go.  Some use plant food or plant spikes, some put fish into the ground before planting.      You do your style.

This Kid Didn’t Make it…

Please speak out against bullies.   You can survive.
Never be silent as someone bullies you.

FOR teachers and administrators — there’s a book you need to read.    It’s called

FREE US FROM BULLYING

Teachers know only that they are taught.     And for most of them, that’s it.    They listen to guidelines, follow protocol, sometimes follow the rules and other times they just ad lib to the best or worst of their ability.

Before you start the hissy fit, be assured that I’m not  saying all teachers are bad, but I’m saying there’s a fe bad apples in there and that’s a fact.

In today’s society,  teachers and administrators  SOMETIMES  have the wrong idea that they have to bring the bully and the ‘bullied’ together and they SOMETIMES forget that, yes, there is a victim and a bully involved.    SOMETIMES they think they have to be Gandhi and let the ‘bullied’ suffer and SOMETIMES they think that they have to be the person to see ‘both’ individuals as the same or as equal .

Does this work in real society ?    Ask yourself this.   If a mugger robs someone, and the mugger hurts someone or threatens someone, do you bring the victim or the target in to ‘talk things over’ with the perp?   No.

Yet, in some schools, that  happens.      For some odd reason , in some schools and centers, the ‘professionals’ think that they know it all and they think that it is important to equalize the bully and the bullied.

Try this one on first.    Get this book if you are a teacher or an administrator, or someone professional that is involved in teaching, helping, assistant teaching, hiring teachers, working with teachers  — get this book  FIRST ..before you think that you know it al.

FREE US FROM BULLYING

That’s the name of the book .

and here’s a video you might  look at

IF YOU ARE BEING BULLIED, keep on keeping on.    Tell someone.   And if the person you tell doesn’t help solve the problem, tell someone ELSE…

and keep on telling UNTIL , together you get the bully to stop bullying.

No.   You don’t have to feel sorry for the bully!

Repeat.    YOU do NOT have to feel sorry for the bully!          Enough of the nonsense on trying to figure out the reason the bully bullies.   Let’s see bullying as the crime that it is and start treating the issue of stopping bullies   seriously.

There’s an APP  that helps schools and centers and other places to stop bullies.    Check out the app online and see if that can help in your school or after school center.

AND one more thing…

to the targets, remember this… there’s plenty of help out there even if the first person you ask fails to help you.   Keep on keeping on and keep on telling….

And never be silenced until the bullying is silenced.

Keep on talking.

Keep on talking….

Keep on keeping on..

Life goes on…   and then you read the news stories like this one  .  this is a story of kids that ere bullied by their mother…  but they didn’t survive  ..

Keep on talking ..

Keep on speaking out ..

Keep on keeping on.

..I am writing this in memory of   J.D.   (His bully is not a teacher, not at a school.   His bully survived but he didn’t survive).     JD keep silent.

Is it Art? ….

Smiles. Yes, it’s art.  But here is a longer answer to that huge question.

artfromperry
After my slideshow here, at the end of this   note,  I post the link to the person’s journal that asks the question   , “is it art”?

In answer to your question – Is this art? , I post this silly opinion on that topic. All of nature is art. Nature is one of THE most beautiful things on earth, beginning with the most beautiful human beings called, ‘babies’. And never ending because all of nature is art and endless, thank God. And as far as other things , on canvas, near canvas, under in and around and not on canvas, labeled as “art”, to me, art is any piece in any form, (video, photography, still pictures, oil, acrylics, clay, wood and other materials, that has or gives or relays a specific message that might be different to each and every beholder. It’s all in the eye, the vision, the mind and in the person’s experience. Life is art and art, sometimes is life, depending on the artist. Oops, apologies, yes, the question is huge, and the answer is even more huge than anyone’s imagination can grip hold of. Art is a gift that God gave and gives us to help us wander through this magnificent earth in the most magnificent ways possible. It is a gift that God gives to every child and every adult, though not many take advantage or use this gift. Yes, it is art. And sometimes it only begins to dull or fail as art when the critics or viewers decide that it’s only art if it has a huge price tag. Ahh, hey, life happens , and thanks to a cool Creator of Peace, everyone, every age, every place, has the opportunity to create art. Oh, and sometimes writing is art, and sometimes art is made even more wonderful when one can add words to it. Key here is to never, ever listen to the critics that are negative. Listen only to one’s heart, mind and soul and keep on producing art …. Do what you love to do, simply create. It’s in your nature, and now, it’s your time to sparkle. Good question! YES! It’s art. — artfromperry

And, I’ll put some of my ‘art’ here because I do call it art  and it doesn’t matter if nobody else does that.

The slideshow  –   above —-   contains photography, art, collage  , my versions of ‘art’. .. that I’ve done over the years , or decades.

Good  question   — that I found here  at this link

Is It, Art?

Someone is always offended when you give your opinion of anything…..

For sure, no doubt, there always someone offended when you give an opinion and truth is that I’m never trying to offend someone but it happens without even me trying.

So, I’ve decided to limit my serious opinions to this site and also to real television.   If I have anything to say about important issues that seem to offend some, I’m voice the opinion on real television or on this site here.     So there you go, no offense meant and I hope that everyone still sticks around to hear what I have to say about some things in life.

Got questions?    Seriously, I love questions.   I might not have all the answers but I have my answer.    So truth is, I’ll answer every single question that is posted here in my site.

Ever Thought About This?

Being kind to a person (while staying safe, of course) is one of the best gifts you can give to a person and to yourself.             I’ve thought about this sometimes because of  an experience that I had.

It is good to remember that nobody really knows  the things that a person goes through in life.    (For example, you can have a child or a teen that is being bullied, and they are  somewhere out in public and someone is just rude, or nasty or unkind to them.   And that one nasty or rude thing directed towards that child —  adds to the already-horrible day the person has had.    Yet, as humans are kind towards everyone that they meet, they are and they do affect someone’s life — even without even knowing the good or positive affect that they have on that human being.  – so be kind to those that you meet .  But of course, stay safe; don’t talk to strangers).

You can be kind by holding a door open for someone.  You can be kind by not joining in  as you see someone being bullied.     Other kinds of kindness and gentleness you can show towards other people  —    send a nice card or a handwritten letter to someone,  treat someone to coffee, bring small food snacks to meetings,  compliment someone, call someone just to say hello, put together a poem or song for someone.  Pray for someone.  Donate old clothing to people or to organizations.  Share some flowers or some vegetable plants with friends and or with neighbors.   Donate mittens and scarves in cold weather to community organizations.  Help out at a soup kitchen or at a local community organization.   Share your voice with someone by inviting them to be on radio (if you are a radio host).   Send a thank you card.     Leave a coin or some coins in the return coin slot in a public vending machine.    Donate to the Salvation Army and to the Red Cross.  Volunteer in your local community organizations. Volunteer in a school or after-school center.   Bring some books – as donations to the lending library.   Give the gift of books , of flowers  of home baked goods.

And there are thousands of other things that you can do to share your kindness with those around you, near and far.

You can make someone’s day with the smallest  or bigger gesture of kindness, if you just think about it.

Leave  a note with your ideas on  sharing kindness and sharing gentleness and sharing ideas, hope and peace with hour neighbors and friends around you.   Keep on keeping on .

phoby artfromperry1535772752..jpgAnd, remember to pray.   Prayer is a great source of peace and power  ….. and it works to change things for the better.    Yes, sometimes it takes time, lots of time, but for sure, if you  continue to pray… you surely get your answers and solutions  , in time.

Have a great week  and weekend !

Leave a comment or a like somewhere there if you are able to.

Ah, Finally, some nice weather ..

And soon enough, the real summer will be  here . The flowers  are ready to be seen all over the neighborhood.

Some ideas for planting:

Check the natural stores, supermarkets etc, for hydrangeas that are already in a pot of soil.    You can take these plants and divide them up into a couple of plants.   (Last time I purchased one of those, I cut the plant into three separate plants).

Other ideas,  plant some Dusty Miller plants –they last all year round.

And for the colder weather ,  Kale is a great green plant.   You don’t have to eat it.  Just let it grow in it’s own little spot in the backyard.   This green stays green all year long , usually.

Delay “suggested donations” for one week, An Idea…

May 08, 2019

Exactly what does

“suggested donation”  mean to you?

The way to collect, “suggested donations”  , at museums and places, centers and schools, is to not collect it.    The best way, the way that it’s meant to be done is that everyone chips in, gives their  (suggested) donation quietly, without being called out,  without being ‘asked’ , without being singled out — and that includes by all in the building or room.

As soon as you ask, “Did you give”, you are basically telling the participant or the student that the donation is not at all suggested but demanded or ordered or totally expected – no matter what.

And if you single out members, or students or participants, if you treat them differently — one from another, then you, again, are signaling that the donation is not suggested but that the donation is kind of a payment as to the way that you are going to be treated.

And in this day and age, when politics seems to rule the news, it’s difficult to try and say that this is any other way.

So, I say to teachers, instructors, participants, paras, and administration and other participants in any other kind of gathering places —   try not to judge people by the amount of their suggested donation.     And look to yourself and ask yourself if you are making the learning experience or the museum experience a  “good” experience, one that you can look forward to having.

20180817_142903~2879718446..jpg

And to students, members or those who attend learning centers, after school centers and other kinds of centers, museum education classes and the like, if you are dissatisfied with the way that  a teacher or a person in charge or someone else is treating you, or responding to you, or conversing with you, here’s an idea.

Pay your suggested donation a week or month after you attend the course, the class or the museum, etc.      By doing this, you can judge if the class or course or if the museum or of the meetings are worth donating to.      So, once you have attended one meeting, then the following week or month, when you attend, again, you can pay for the past week.     By keeping your payments in the past, you can pay for what a class or what an experience is really worth to you.     By paying for ‘worth’ through suggested donations, you can help the organization or the school or the college or the museum keep in business, yet , still , you have “your say” in evaluating the meeting or the museum, etc.        If the class or meeting or the museum doesn’t earn any money through donations, then the organization can judge which classes or which meetings or which museums are really bringing  good “worth” and good quality into the scene.

Keep the customers, consumers, students and meeting attendees happy by treating everyone equally and you keep everything happy and everything running smoothly.

So, teachers, paraprofessionals, museum staff, ushers, workers, and everyone involved in any kind of ‘suggested’ donation events, experiences or classes or coursework, be kind,  be equally kind and respectful of all of the attendees.   That is the way that museums, classes, courses, colleges, and other education institutions thrive.    They continue to thrice only when everyone is treated equally.

So, you can say to yourself, this week, “Yes, I paid the suggested donation, because for last  week it was worth the donation” .

Pay for what it is worth.

Thinking About Bartending? Here’s Some Information …

DISCLAIMER:

First, I don’t recommend the job, that’s just a personal opinion.   I’d rather not have a job as a person who is pushing drinks to sober or to drunk people.     If you really want to do that, think about getting into Congress instead.

Now, the article. .

Article 2 in a series
©2019 artfromperry
Bartending and the Bartender

At the end of this article there is a link that goes to the thoughts (of someone else) about what bartenders say is the worst part of their job…

well, what are some of the things that you do , on the job, as a bartender?
I’m not a bartender but I’ve seen enough on television and online about bartenders — to give an opinion here, so here goes.
First off, you know that their biggest asset is their age and their smile , right? If they are young and stylish, and they have a great smile — that’s the beginnings of a good bartender (at least to the judgment of the owners and customers , anyway).

Check! She has a great smile and she’s young and stylish. hmmm…. I guess that qualifies one for Congress also, ask anyone.

Okay, back to business…

Be young, great smile, and then you must be knowledgeable about drinks, food, and also about the laws — after all, you have to do only that what is legal — correct?

You have to be able to mix drinks and also converse with someone.

Check!

You have to be able to talk BS . (OOOPS.. sorry about that) . You have to be able to

(Some bartending requirements below)

tell the customer what the customer wants to hear
listen to the customer
be a good speechmaker, sound sympathetic, – a good listener
be able to tell someone who is drunk from someone who is not drunk

Check! Wait, are all the voters still drunk?

JUST KIDDING, hey, a little humor here, lighten up . Smiles.

ARTFROMPERRY2018-03-18 at 10.09.21 AM

You don’t have to be able to know what you are talking about as long as the customer THINKS you know what you are talking bout…

Those are beginnings of getting your foot into the door of bartending.

But, do you really want to go there?

Oh, you never , hardly ever, have to be “factually correct”, because most of the people that you are serving are either drunk or getting there, so who cares about facts, correct?

Check!

hmmm, wait, if you go for public service or public office, you might want to bone up on that being factual correct because that can be quite a helpful thing there.

but, hey, we are only talking about bartending here, not about public office.

Here’s some quotes from a website below :

A bar can go from a sleepy slow to a bustling, jam-packed, out-of-control place in only the blink of an eye. The way of reducing this potentially dangerous situation is to have a set procedure of service behind your bar. Situations that cause a lot of grief among patrons, especially those who have been consuming alcohol, can cause conflicts between patrons, or even worse bar staff, and should be avoided at all cost!

Greet your guest(s) and prepare them to order
Offer service
Prepare order(s)
Complete transaction
Check back on customer in a timely manner
Say farewell to customer.
If these steps are consistently applied whilst behind the bar, your daily workload becomes much more manageable, and your work shifts can be a much more productive time (remember, bartenders are still there to make money!).
Oh, that last line there, “(remember, bartenders are still there to make money!”) ..
CHECK!

Red, the color …

The Color Red ….

walking into the room, I sway the red cloth around, as if I am in the ring at a popular bull fight in Spain. … the color red.

what do you think of when you see the color red?

screenshot_2018-09-15-19-02-001235403602.png

If you were in the ring, that day , with the bull, your ‘sight’ or your reaction would really depend on ‘whom” you were. If you are the human being, then your reaction and your personality, your actions are those of someone with courage, with boldness, with a ‘conquer’ all attitude. However, if you are the bull, your reaction, your personality, and your entire attitude is something totally different -than that of the human’s viewpoint .

If you are the bull, you see RED! That’s all you see, nothing but RED! and when you see the red, you just want to angrily CHARGE at the target, and the target is the red flag, the red cloth that the bull fighter is holding. Imagine this… what if the bull doesn’t see the red as a problem? what if the bull decides to be different and decides to be a non-reactor, a living being that makes the decision to not charge at the red cloth?

what a bull fight that would be right?

But think about this, what if you decide to not react , in your own life? How could things be different if you make a conscious decision to not have an emotional, an angry, a horrible reaction to the color red? How does that change your life, and the instance that you are experiencing at the time?
Can you change your emotions, change your attitude, change your entire day by not reacting to ‘the color red’ ?

Decades ago, I used to feel a certain way when I saw the color red. To me, the color red meant only danger, horror, something terrible was going to happen. To me, when I saw the color red, I used to think of blood. And the reason I thought of that was because that was my first reaction when I saw blood on tissues, all over the living room, when I was a young girl. A latchkey child, I came home to the apartment, for lunch, during school, and I saw all this blood around the living room. Yet, there was no explanation, yet you could imagine my horror, after all I was just a little kid. And you have no idea, for how many years, I remembered that color red, that bad initial experience, to seeing “red”. I, probably, was about nine or ten years old at the time. Not to worry, I survived. But I tell you this story to let you know that you can change your reactions, change your thoughts and change your whole day by refusing to “see red”. But not entirely, I do still see red. But I react very differently than I would have reacted in the past.

In the past, I would start to feel nervous, start to really feel very very nervous. It triggered a reaction of fear, of not knowing, of caution, inside of me. And I would freeze, be still, for a bit, and then begin wondering what was going to happen next.

Today, when I see red, I don’t react to that, like that, as I did in the past. Today, I simply, automatically, associate the color with something good, something courageous, something that doesn’t make me frightened at all. And that works for me.

Until, of course, until our society decided to change that all. And now, when “some” in our society see red, specifically , the red hat, lots of people in our society, decide to take on the personality of the bull in the ring, and they immediately, like the bull, without thinking as a human being can think, they immediately charge, and pounce, and attack. And sometimes they even charge and pounce on those that they know, those that they have been friends with — before they saw, ‘the color red”.

why change your whole reaction, your whole relationship with another human being just because of the color red?

Here’s my advice to you, that comes from experience in my own life, take a week or more , or take a year, and make it a rule to never react to color, not even to the color red. And make it a rule never to judge a book by it’s cover, even if that book is wearing a Trump 2020 hat.

Look at the world differently. Have a different thought. PAUSE. That’s right. Pause, and remind yourself that a person’s hat is not their personality. Remind yourself that a person’s hat color is not their life, not their attitude towards life and it has nothing at all to do with the heart of the human being that is wearing the hat.

After all, aren’t all hearts the same color? After all, isn’t Valentine’s day flowing with the color red? After all, isn’t the symbol of the Red Cross — red ? …. Aren’t there thousands of things in our world that have the same color, yet merit a totally different reaction?

Change your attitude towards the color red, and yes, more specifically , the red hat, that red hat that seems to be warping the minds of normally civil human beings…. that red hat.

Recently, I’ve had people change towards me — because I wore a red hat. They changed because, after knowing them for more than five or six years, they found out that I voted for President Trump. And that, to them, totally changed the person that I am — only in their mind of course. I hadn’t changed at all. I just wore a red hat. Yet, they, like the bulls in the ring, saw ‘red’. They saw someone in front of them who DARED TO DISAGREE with them, and so that angered them. Just because of a red hat, the color red.

Newsbreaker, I’m still the same person that I was last year, and the year before and years before that. The red hat was not like Dorothy’s red shoes and the hat didn’t have any super powers or have any magical transformation. It is simply a red hat. It is cloth. And my vote, in America, is still my vote, and still free, and still mine. Yet, some try to change that. Do they think that if they get me to stop wearing the red hat, then when voting day comes around that I will change my vote — to their point of view – just because they ‘make’ me stop wearing the red hat?

You can stop someone from wearing the hat, and you can stop someone from dressing the way that you don’t want them to dress. But as long as we still live in America, and as long as we have our good old-fashioned ‘free vote’, you can never stop a person from voting from their mind, heart and soul, from their own decision.

In fact, when I see the violence that some perps have been flooding the streets with — due to seeing red hats, or as they call them, “……” hats, it kind of makes me want to vote for the guy in the red hat. You see, I am anti-violence. And I am for free speech and I am for freedom. And I am for freedom for EVERYONE, not just for those that I agree with. I am for a free America. And that means, that when people try to use violence, and bullying, and hatred to stop human beings from speaking or from dressing the way that they want to dress, I’m naturally going to vote for the person that I see as a peacemaker.

Did you “see red” as I speak these words? Ah, that’s okay. You see, I just wanted to share an idea. And my idea is this,

what if we just ignore the red hats, and just live our lives …. live OUR lives, and try not to live someone else’s life, and try not to control someone else.

As I see it, from experience only, the ones that try to control (and I do mean control) , by bullying, and by violence, other people’s lives and how other people dress, and how other people vote — those that use that control — have no control over their own life and thus they take our their anger on ‘other people’.

Yep, I’ve noticed that the ones that got really angry at me, the ones that lashed out in anger, in bullying words, and in other ways, only AFTER they found out that I voted for the President, those people really don’t have any control over their own lives. Most of the people that have control over their own lives, and most of the people (even those that disagree with my vote) that take care of their own lives, do not use anger or control or bullying towards other people. They just don’t .

So, perhaps we can look at this color red another way. Perhaps we can look at the angry ones who see nothing but “red” as people out of control in their own lives, as people who need some help, somehow with really big problems in their own lives. Perhaps. That’s all I’m saying.

All I ‘m saying is that the next time you see, “red”, that might be the time you should pause, stop, take a breath, calm down, and say to yourself, it’s only a color. It’s just a hat. Let’s have a conversation instead of lashing out in anger and hatred. Just pause.

Oh, and one more thing, yes, this is America!

And here’s my red hat…

One question, are you a human being or just an old angry bull in the ring?

Peace.

Pictures and Links

Decades ago, I took photographs during a television show, years later, I put some of them together and created an abstract kind-of picture.   Sometimes speaking out with pictures can have a totally different meaning than speaking out directly in words.

abstractArt artfromperry.jpeg

More pictures are below this link here.   (This link goes to one of the flickr pages, artfromperry flickr  ; note, I take pictures as a hobby, for just a bit of energy.  Photography gets me through the day; it’s sort of a pain-relief method that works for me. when you distract your mind from pain, you do, actually, feel less pain.  Find a hobby, smiles.         LINK  here to one of the flickr    click on these words

Sometimes I create posters, like the one below..Always hope artfromperry.jpeg

And sometimes,  I’ll decide to put a message, or a public service message into one picture as a poster, like the one below that aims to put an end to gossip.

ARTFROMPERRY 2019-02-18 at 7.16.04 AMARTFROMPERRY PICTURES.JPEG.JPEG

And sometimes I just like to take pictures that just look interesting to me, and I’ll share them online somewhere, either on flickr or on pinterest or somewhere in the blog or newsletter.   The 2 pictures below – one is one of my collage photos that contains dozens of  my other photos — a table top collage.  The photo next to it is a picture of my Bible and  the handprinted section that is one of the most important bit of words that everyone should remember…

There’s always hope, that’s for sure.

Peace.

PS:  I don’t sell any pictures (perhaps in the future, long, far, future) but I’d like to hear which , if any , of these photos that you like the best.   If you can, leave a note?  Thank you.   wait, I’ll add a couple more below

A New Look to the Place Here Online

So been checking out a few different themes and I happen to like this one so far.

Happy Valentine’s Day EVERYONE!

Remember the peace and love and joy that we are all given freely from Jesus Christ.    with this, you have everything you need to go forward in life.   You might be going slowly, forward, but hey, slowly is better than standing still totally.

And I move , slowly, forward towards my goals.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

For writers only…

write.

(Smiles, there’s something wrong with my letter w on the keyboard, no capitals.  Not quite repaired yet).

write at every opportunity.    You don’t have to make it public; just write it.

If you have the opportunity, use writers market

(It’s an annual book that has all the publishers, reps, names, websites, phones etc, and details that you need to know before submitting your poems or manuscripts or other writing to the companies).

And a favorite reference site of mine is   refdesk.com    This site is totally cool!

Share the information with almost everyone.

School Bullies

School bullies can be anyone, including teachers, instructors and assistant instructors.    Next time you come across a school bully, try your best to

  1.  ignore the person
  2. go away from the person.
  3. ignore the person again and again and again.
  4. keep yourself safe while ignoring the person.
  5. tell someone you trust.
  6. and continue to ignore the person.

If you are a child or teen or under age – be sure to tell someone that you trust, an aunt, uncle, trust parent, associate…but tell someone that you are being bullied.

And then,

ignore the person again

and keep on walking away , to a safe area, a public area, an area where your friends are. Never walk away to a deserted or solitary area.   If you do that you will allow the bully to corner you.   Always  walk to an area where you know the people, your friends and associates, good people who will not agree with nor support the bully.

Keep on talking.

Keep on walking.

Don’t Judge a Book by Its’ Cover

All over the world, people look at you, and some (just some) judge you, by the way that you dress, the way that you talk, the way you walk, by how you get around, by the car you drive, by the car you don’t drive, and by the way that you present yourself to the world.

What some don’t realize is that eventually, yes, eventually, everyone looks the same.  We come into this world , almost , looking the same and everyone really comes into the world empty handed, except for their most wonderful beautiful brain, spirit, heart and attitude.

Look again.

That person that you judge as being “not worth being around” might just be the one who is one with heart.  Yea, I know.

Everyone has a heart right?

True.

But some use their heart to guide them to a better place, to a place of peace, to a place where it’s okay to be you.   And others might use their heart to do the opposite.

Hearts are invisible on first impressions.  And hearts don’t show themselves in clothing, vehicles, or in any type of physical or material surroundings.

Remember that next time you see someone that you think comes from a different world than you come from.    Everyone comes from the same place.

And then you either live and grown and flourish,  or you build a wall around yourself that keeps creativity, curiosity, warmth, spirit and growth away from you, and you can get stuck in a rut that becomes too hard to get out of.

Are you a stuck up individual who looks down on other human beings because of their surroundings, their clothing, the vehicles or lack of vehicles, or other material or physical things or possessions?

Look again.   Look closer.

And then look inside yourself.

And then look around you.

Are you bathed in insincerity?   Are you covered with “yes men” ?   Are you surrounded by people who will tell you only that which you want to hear?   Are you surrounded by “all the king’s men”?   Are you surrounded by the same people who saw what the “Emperor” was wearing (nothing!) but didn’t say a word?

The Emperor’s New Clothing  wasn’t clothing at all.

Are you naked but nobody around you is friend enough to tell you?

Ahh, yes, I know.

None of that makes sense to you.

That’s okay.

It’s okay to be you.

Read “The Emperor’s New Clothing” , and then while you are at it, get a copy of the  “Aesop’s Fables”.   And then read that other children’s book, “The King’s Stilts”.

You just might learn a thing or two.
