Still, I Take Photographs ..

lperry27Back in 90’s AND prior to 2007, I took these photographs

Above are three studio photographs (photographs that I took in the television studio before I had my injury decades ago).   And then there is one of my favorite collages that I created during a time or trauma and crisis.  (Lots of loss, and extenuating circumstances that was not due to anything coming from me).

To rid myself of nervousness, I would use collage to help.   When I created collages or collected materials for my collages, my nervousness would fade.   So, for me, art, creating, collage, photography and painting is my ‘happy pill’ that works just fine for me.  There are no bad side effects, only good side effects.   I get rest from worries and concerns; I get stronger, and more confident as I create art.  And one of the arts that I used when I was a child, was writing.  I really wasn’t allowed to do my creative writing on paper at that time but I ‘wrote’ in my head, making up words to songs.  And back then, I was able to remember the words.   I would sing out loud  (not too loud , smiles) so that I was able to fall asleep.  That worked for the most part.    All these forms of art helped me to heal, one moment at a time, one day at a time.

Everything you see in the pictures above is my creative, positive healing.  From the top picture -at the March for Jesus in NYC (my faith heals my spirit) to the studio pictures (creating videos helps me heal), to the collage and painting and photography, it’s all good for me.  And sometimes, by the messages in my art, it might be good for other people also.  Oh, smiles, and I am a nature lover and a bird watcher, so the last picture also, shares my healing , the way that I heal with the world as I display my art , somewhere.

Goes without saying, that the largest, and best part of my healing begins with my strong faith in God.  He has never, ever failed me. And so, I am strengthened and fortified as I remember to keep my strong faith in Jesus Christ.

I hope that you like my art, but if you don’t like it, that’s okay too.  For now,  I do it all for myself, even the exhibits that I did were for me, to help me heal.

ABOUT THE PICTURES BELOW:

I love taking pictures of birds, and of the rain, the weather, and of windows.  Some of my photographs are below.  I took all the pictures below.   In the first picture, that is the view from outside a small chapel in New York State.   The picture is of the outside wall, and looking through the windows of the chapel, I saw the windows on the other side of the chapel.   The dark tree shadows reflecting on the walls  The same with the second picture.   As you can probably guess, in the second picture also,  I was looking through the outside window – (which doesn’t show in the picture) , towards the other windows in the chapel.   And later, I took a closeup – of those things that are on the table there, inside the chapel.  The chapel was locked up for the day.  I’m not sure if it is ever open to the public.    I took the other pictures in this group, in Staten Island, and in Syracuse, New York,  USA.

You see, throughout my life, ever since the age or probably about seven or eight years old, I learned to use my art as my voice.  When I was a kid, my art was the silly paint by number and also creating mosaics, and taking pictures by the time that I was about nine or so.   My Dad gave my first Polaroid camera to me.  I picked that up and never put it down .  I wish I still had that one today but someone took it away from me  (just because it came from my Dad).

Even in times when I’ve been quiet, my art has spoken for me .  Sometimes not everyone has understood the message, but that was okay also.   When I am creating art, I am merely continuing to heal and recover from trauma, and from tragedy.   It takes years to heal sometimes, so I’ll probably be doing art forever.  Because after all,  even though I began it all to heal, I love making these paper, and paint and other crafts materials creations.  It’s fun, and I enjoy doing them.   And, yes, my favorite form of art is writing.   It is in writing, that sometimes, I can almost say exactly what I think to say.   It’s difficult today, since the world seems upset about politics, but other than that, I feel free to write what I want to write about.  Writing, as with speaking, is healing.

I hope that you enjoy some form of art or some form of a hobby.  You can work wonders with art.   And now, here’s a very important note for parents, for guardians and for teachers and professionals.   Read below:

Note to Guardians, Parents, Professionals and Teachers:

If you have a child, or know a child, do what you can to get that child interested in a hobby, whether it is painting, or photography or singing, or writing or dancing, or anything.  Help any child to get really into a hobby, a creative, positive hobby.   In doing that, you will change a child’s life for the better, all in a good way.  But you probably know that already.  I am typing this note for those that didn’t know it or for those that haven’t thought about it. .

Holidays are coming soon and you might be looking for gifts for children, teens and young adults  .   Choose those gifts that allow people to create, to be artistic.  Choose gifts that bring the hobbies to the child.  There you go, now, you are  a  winner!

If you can or are able to or want to do so, kindly leave a note there in the comments section.  Thank you.

To you, the reader,  keep your faith strong, and keep on keeping on.

Peace .  artfromperry
