Probably the very first reason is because the workshops and creating wood projects and creating art and doing photography reminds me of my father and the work he used to do. He had about five rooms of ‘workshops’ on the first floor — separate from the three room apartment. And in the rooms of the workshop were tons of tools, and some equipment. There must have been at least four or five drills, and a couple of dreamless, and some other tools and saws; you name it and it was there.
And the second reason that I really enjoy these hobbies is because creating helps my brain work a little better. It is just plain inspirational.
Photography is probably my best hobby, or my favorite one, next to reading and writing. My Dad gave my first camera to me; it was the good-old Polaroid, pictures in less than a minute. And that was like magic. I didn’t have to have film processed and I didn’t have to pay to see the pictures either. Over the years, I’ve moved on from the Poloroids and happy to say that I enjoy digital cameras and the cellular phone cameras — the best.
